communism

The dream of ..
Many masterminds and politicians thought about
'communism'. Acadamics still observe current communist
states. And everybody agrees, that the invention of 'communism'
cannot work! Let's go back in history:
The USSR tried out communist social economy,
with it the German Democratic Republic. But did it succeed?
No!
USSR doesn't exist anymore. And I can show you many more examples
of failed communistic societies. Look at Chinese Republic,
look over at North Korea.

Scientists believe, communism as the ideal society, with no
evil, and accordingly will never exist.

Well, communism in its original meaning has never been
achieved by any state. They all resigned with the
problems of "compulsive" pre-stage: socialism.

Socialism is supposed to re-arange peoples' mind,
to teach them "right" and "wrong" and to clear
possession (and obsession?)
But at this point, we run straight into dictatorship.
^^ Someones needs to do a lead-in. Someone has to
manage it.

Can't We just skip socialism?
I think it works. And I truely believe, millions
of people live in a communist society!
From my point of view, we have a big revolution,
a revolution from the bottom. And it only
exists in a community, in free-time. When many people
spend their evenings for others - And their own FUN.
We call this: Open-Source Community.

When I look at the Open-Source people, we don't have
any possessions ... somehow we may be obsessed with
the idea to obtain world domination ;)
... No, not really. It is joy and fun! We live together on
a seemingly small planet (caused by internet)
and enjoy it. Nobody consists in his copyrights or
commerce.

Everone does, what he likes best, and everone takes,
what he needs. And we don't have real captains.
Somehow there are some. But they more suggest
than command.
This is communism, as it should be.
And everybody may join us.

Sex sells

Do You know the administers most threatening scenario?

When he cannot “see” what's going wrong!

Last days I had no good News to tell about, but now.

Today I fixed several Bugs on our Logging Systems and we could

again view the established and dropped connections.

At 14:30 some unusual connections appeared and I became nervous.

Than we had a big flood of packets from one and the same connection.

So I began searching and it looked like a Denial-Of-Service Attack.

I wrote a barefaced mail to the user “root” at the attacking server,

where I impolitely pleased him to stop that penetration.

Well, the IP-address range is known to serve several porn pages.

So I suggested to have a closer look at our logs.

But we couldn't discover any attacks.

“root” answered me! Yes, I was completely out-of-order ;)

He simply told me, that I've been “attacked” with

a video-stream from one of my internal users.

THE ENEMY SITS NEXT TO YOU!

That was my thoughts, this is what most of us administers

do not remember. And just like everybody,

we had troubles finding the “enemy” on our network.

But the funny Ending of this story is a nice contact to another

open-source man. Furthermore he help us discovering the host.

We was very happy having sent that impertinent mail to “root”!

Back to the roots?

Somehow, yes! When i was thinking of my feature plans
.. i was faced with the opportunity,
studying at THE University for IT-Science!
But first of all I have to learn, learn a lot.
That's not the easiest way, I've chosen for my life,
yep - but why don't just try it?

So I need to learn programming languages,
I need to know, how computers work, I
need to enhance my english language.
(so I built up this blogg; as you can see
it took sometime to get used to it).
Recently I was starting to study C.
C seems to be a very basic language from which
I for my side can grep knowledge.

Some weeks ago, we (IT-Service at my company)
where cleaning up the cellars and stocks.
There I found a "Laptop",
from 1989!

Fascinating! An 80286 Laptop from Toshiba,
nearly as old as me. And: It Works!

The only disadvantage: the CMOS battery is very low -
not so say, it is just empty ;-)

The Laptop has No Battery, always runs on wire and
it is an amber-light display.

The installed (foo) M$$ System works fine =),
but in the wish of learning, I would like
to get a Linux Kernel running on it.

Coming up with that idea, I had to find out,
that there is no 80286-compatible kernel.
Linus never wrote on a 286 machine :(

Guess, I'm really fucked now! Because the only
chance of getting it runnin' is to convert the
absolute first-first Version of Linus' Kernel.

Most of you would say: "Are you crazy?"
And most suitable answer by me is: "YES"

So called "first world"

*snip*

*snip*
(originally from Immanuel Kant)

If we transfer this thesis to world IT environment,
we are on our best way back to middle-ages.
Most of the common (Windows)- Users do simply accept
Digital Rights Management, Copyrights and enforced Registrations.
Taking advance of your own brain without foreign control
seems to be luxury, which only can apparently afford
some priviledged people, most Open Source maintainer
But Open Source can only survive in a closed-source economy
when there is enough brain and fantasy
to give reasons paying for something "free".
Open Source does not always implement the freedom of at-no-charge,
but freedom of choice!

I have to admit, that people - unable to use their intellect
without foreign control - will never come into joy
of freedom as open-source.
You have to recognize your intellectual liberty on you own.

I live linux, how free are you?

-----------

Linux User Group Norderstedt e.V. is part of this
Open-Source community.
As shown in some nice bloggs of our membres,
we are very close to our community.
The somehow most important contact for us to the world is in Africa:
We deliberately take advantage of the knowledge
from South-Africa and Namibia.
Because those people know that our so-called
"first world" is not leading in IT-environment.

As an example: Most of the Namibian schools are supplied
with very new-fashioned computers, deployed with Open Source software.
This is (as proofed with Kant's quote) a highly developed IT-philosophy,
from which We can learn a lot!
So, LUG Norderstedt made it to its business importing
and supporting 2 very good projects:
1st SchoolNet Namibia (schoolnet.na) and
2nd OpenLab/EduKar (getopenlab.com).

SchoolNet is a project for supporting Namibian schools
and administering the network of open-source schools down there.
OpenLab is the Linux Distribution used by SchoolNet
and developed in South-Africa.
OpenLab is a eLearning and Teaching Distribution
with best of education software around the world.

Now it's in the step of Germany:
Jump on to the train and learn from them!

So long,

Those funny days

Just the last 10 days i had some very funny mails and telephone calls.
Not only that there seems to be a new girl-friend in range, no! We also could
achieve some very enormous flashing news over the world!
There is a kind of charity-project, which is like to export computers to some
schools in namibia. But they are on the way to install M$$ Software, which is
not very likely for namibian ICT. Because nearly every school in namibia is
equipped with OSS.
So why should they send M$$ to them?
We just asked them - and got an answer: Namibian schools should definitly
have orderd those computers.

Come on guys. Can this be ment seriously? Have you ever talked to Namibian
citizens? They have never talked such nonsense - and would never do! Believe
me!

But now I have the breaking news! Just within 10 days we could organize such
big amount of approval, fighting against this nonsense, that the western
charity project just gave up! Now they would like to see some striking
evidences for the advantage of using OpenSource - and yes, we will give them!
I am just as happy, that i forgot to be pacient.
Now we will do our best, to convice them, using OpenSource Software and to
collaborate with schoolnet!

My greatest wish would be, to even convince the whole local school to use
Linux! I had a really impressive kind of concept, to get rid of the big
amount of work, supporting and administrating nearly hundreds of computers.
They could work more effective using Linux!

This is me ..

I am just a "small" guy from germany - but proud of being here.
This would probably be the most interessting and wonderful place to be born.
We all are participating in a world full of bits and bytes. Nowadays we can see the greatest news and worlds famoust inventions just-in-time.

We can be proud of having invented cars, electricity, and of course the internet.
The greatest inventions, such like OpenSource Software and the GNU Project, should be kept very safe!
Everybody living in this world, can be very proud of being here.
Everyone who can access my Blogg, should always remember, that this is a free place!
The Internet is of course not out-of-law. Cause everyone has at least a tight feeling of civial rights.

So we all - who have access to the internet - should take care of it and do NOT abuse it, damage other internet-users or damage servers.

You'll here from me.
